Students in level 3A will begin preparations for Pointe within our Physio-based Pre-Pointe program. This program combines classical technique training with physiotherapy techniques to fine tune and accelerate preparations for pointe work.
Students in level 3B or above and are age 11 or older are eligible to be considered for promotion to pointe work. Students are required to attend 3 ballet classes per week for a minimum of 1 year prior to being considered for pointe, and must have multiple years of consistent classical ballet training. In order to be considered for pointe work, students must meet a required level of physical strength and technical ability, necessary range of motion in their feet and ankles, and display a high level of commitment to their ballet training. Students will not all be promoted at the same time, and we encourage students and parents to reach out to us with any questions or concerns regarding pointe work. Being promoted to pointe can and should be a very exciting time in a young dancer’s career. However, it is very important that pointe work is approached in a safe and healthy manner to avoid injury, or any other stresses.
