Born in San Diego, CA, and raised in Tijuana, MX, Alyssa Moreno began her dance journey at
age four. At the age of eighteen, she started her teaching journey at Balletto Dance Studio, where
she grew up dancing and fell in love with the art of teaching. From a very young age, Ms. Alyssa
knew she wanted to be a dance teacher, and as the only artistic individual in a large family, she
continues to work hard to grow and improve as a teacher and promote the arts.
After two years in community college, Ms. Alyssa transferred to San Diego State University,
graduating with honors and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance while being named Outstanding
Student in May 2024.
During her time at the SDSU Dance Program, Ms. Alyssa had the honor to be mentored by
Jessica Humphrey, and with her help, develop a dance research project called "Entremedio/
In-Between," which won the Outstanding Creative and Performing Arts Award at the 2024
SDSU Student Research Symposium. As a student, she also had the privilege to learn from and
collaborate with distinguished artists such as Joseph Alter, Leslie Sieters, and Briana Lopez.
Ms. Alyssa recently became certified in the ABT National Ballet Training Curriculum from level
Pre-Primary through Level 3. Her goal is to become certified in all seven levels in the near
future. As a teacher, Ms. Alyssa strives to inspire and motivate her students to follow their
dreams. Currently teaching on both sides of the border, she enjoys sharing her passion and
knowledge with students as she continues to learn and evolve herself, encouraging questions and
problem-solving in class. From first-hand experience, Ms. Alyssa knows that dance can teach so
much more than how to create art; one of her priorities as a teacher is for her students to learn
skills, values, and lessons that they will be able to apply outside of the studio.
