Choreography, Jazz, Contemporary & Company Technique

Rebekah Brown is a San Diego–based choreographer, performer, and dance teacher originally from Ashland, Ohio. She began her training at age seven and went on to earn her BFA in Dance from the University at Buffalo, where she pioneered a dance study abroad program with the University of Chichester. She later received her MFA in Choreography from Mills College and was awarded the E.L. Weigand Award for Innovation in Choreography. Her interdisciplinary thesis merged painting and dance - a creative dialogue that continues to shape her artistic voice.

She is the founder of H2O Dance Company, established in 2015. Known for producing accessible, visually rich contemporary work, the company has presented six evening-length performances under her direction. Her choreography has also been featured in San Diego, Los Angeles, Santa Monica, Oakland, San Francisco, and Northeast Ohio. Influenced by modern masters and visual artists alike, her work blends movement and musicality with passion and intention. In addition to H2O, she choreographs for Awaken Theater on musicals and special performances, including their annual Christmas spectacular, Night of Christmas, presented at the renowned Rady Shell at Jacobs Park in downtown San Diego.

For more than 20 years, Rebekah has worked as both a choreographer and educator, drawing from her extensive background in ballet, modern, contemporary, and jazz. She is currently in her fifth season as resident faculty at The Ballet Company, where she specializes in choreography for productions and original works created for The Performing Company. She also teaches master classes throughout San Diego and remains passionate about mentoring the next generation of artists.

Ms Alyssa moreno

Primary Ballet

Born in San Diego, CA, and raised in Tijuana, MX, Alyssa Moreno began her dance journey at age four. From a very young age, Ms. Alyssa knew she wanted to be a dance teacher. She often volunteered to help out with the younger dancers’ classes, and naturally, at the age of eighteen, she began her teaching journey at Balletto Dance Studio, the studio where she grew

up dancing. As the only artistic member of a large family, she continues to work hard to grow and improve as a teacher and promote the arts.

In May 2024, she graduated with honors and an Outstanding Student award from San Diego State University, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance. During her time at the SDSU Dance Program, Ms. Alyssa had the honor of being mentored by Jessica Humphrey, and with her help, developed a dance research project called "Entremedio/In-Between," which won the Outstanding Creative and Performing Arts Award at the 2024 SDSU Student Research Symposium. As a student, she also had the privilege of learning from and collaborating with distinguished artists such as Joseph Alter, Leslie Sieters, Khamla Somphanh, and Briana Lopez.

Since graduating, Ms. Alyssa has made continuing her preparation as a teacher a priority. She is certified in the ABT National Training Curriculum from Level Pre-Primary through Level 5. She also holds a certification from the Rambert Grades Contemporary Syllabus on all levels. As a teacher, Ms. Alyssa strives to inspire and motivate her students to follow their dreams. Currently teaching on both sides of the border, she enjoys sharing her passion and knowledge with students as she continues to learn and evolve herself, encouraging questions and problem-solving in class. She believes that dance is much more than a creative outlet; the lessons learnt in the studio can often transcend to other areas of life.

Ms Sara Boyd

Modern & Jazz

Ms. Sara Boyd has been a part of the TBC family for many years and is thrilled to be officially on staff this season. Sara has always centered her life around her dance training and spent her high school years attending La Mesa Arts Academy and San Diego School of Creative and Performing Arts where she specialized in ballet and modern technique. She was concurrently enrolled in TBC's Conservatory Program under Artistic Director, Jill Gibson. Her twelve years of dancing dance training have included Lyrical, Ballet, Pointe, Jazz, Tap, Contemporary, Modern, Musical Theatre and Partnering.

Along with her training in dance technique and performance, Sara has been dedicated to become a great teacher. She spent 5 years as a Teacher Assistant learning classroom management, lesson planning and dance pedagogy. She was mentored by teachers both at The Ballet Company and at La Mesa Arts Academy. She is currently teaching Modern Technique and Jazz and serves as a substitute teacher for ballet.
